ब्रिटेन की 650 सदस्यीय संसद के लिए गुरुवार को वोट डाले जाएंगे। खंडित जनादेश के आसार के बीच भारतीय मूल के मतदाता निर्णायक साबित हो सकते हैं। सर्वेक्षण कांटे की टक्कर में सत्ताधारी कंजरवेटिव पार्टी को मुख्य विपक्षी दल लेबर पार्टी पर मामूली बढ़त दिखा रहे हैं। हालांकि स्पष्ट बहुमत के लिए जरूरी 326 सीटों से दोनों ही दल काफी दूर दिखाई दे रहे हैं।
स्कॉटिश नेशनल पार्टी के तीसरे सबसे बड़े दल के तौर पर उभरने की उम्मीद है और माना जा रहा है कि लेबर पार्टी उसके सहयोग से सरकार बनाने में कामयाब हो सकती है। नतीजे शुक्रवार को आएंगे और 18 मई को नई संसद का गठन होगा।
उम्मीदवारों में 16 सांसद
चुनाव में लेबर पार्टी ने 52 अश्वेत व अल्पसंख्यक उम्मीदवार खड़े किए हैं। इनमें पिछली संसद के 16 सदस्य हैं। ब्रिटिश चुनाव के इतिहास में कजर्वेटिव पार्टी ने सबसे अधिक 45 अल्पसंख्यक प्रत्याशियों को उतारा है। इनमें 15 भारतीय किस्मत आजमा रहे हैं, जिनमें 14 लेबर पार्टी से और एक कंजर्वेटिव पार्टी के टिकट से चुनाव लड़ रहे हैं।
प्रवासियों के बीच कम हुई है लेबर की लोकप्रियता
-2010 में कंजरवेटिव पार्टी को 307 और लेबर को 258 सीटें मिली थीं।
-जिन सीटों पर प्रवासी मतदाताओं की भूमिका अहम मानी जा रही है, उनमें से 12 लेबर, छह कंजरवेटिव और दो सीटें लिबरल डेमोक्रेट के पास हैं।
-ब्रिटेन में भारतीय मूल के मतदाताओं की संख्या करीब 615,000 मानी जाती है। साल 1997 में लेबर पार्टी के समर्थन में भारतीय मूल के 77 फीसदी मतदाता थे जो 2014 में घटकर 18 फीसदी हो गया।
– कंजरवेटिव पार्टी को पिछले चुनाव में जातीय अल्पसंख्यकों का 16 फीसदी मत मिला था। पार्टी इस तबके को अबकी बार आकर्षित करने की पूरी कोशिश कर रही है। उसने भारतीय मूल के 17 लोगों को उम्मीदवार बनाया है।
-इन उम्मीदवारों में इंफोसिस के सह-संस्थापक नारायण मूर्ति के दामाद ऋषि सुनक शामिल हैं। अमनदीप सिंह भोगल उत्तरी आयरलैंड में चुनाव लड़ रहे हैं। वह यहां चुनाव लडऩे वाले पहले सिख हैं।
-लेबर और लिबरल डेमोक्रेट ने भारतीय मूल के 14-14 उम्मीदवार मैदान में उतारे हैं।
